In a fascinating interview Stuart Paver, Managing Director of Pavers tells his family business story.
Founded in 1971 by Stuart’s mother in York, Stuart developed an interest in business at a young age. His early memories include being taken on buying trips where he would listen to his mother negotiate. Stuart describes some of the significant phases over the company’s fifty years of trading including their investment move into India, the Covid pandemic, changes to the UK retail sector and the creation of the Pavers charitable Foundation.

Stuart also talks about some of the founding principles and strategies within their family business; how they handle the management of children joining the business and multi-generational planning, what they look for in employees and how they invest in their people.
