The Family Business Network has been announced as one of the delivery partners appointed to co-ordinate the North West Family Business Programme, working alongside the North West Business Leadership Team, the Institute of Family Business and other regional partners including Thomas Jardine & Co, North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, Cumbria Chamber of Commerce & East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce
Supported and funded by the UK government and some of Britain’s leading companies, The North West Family Business Programme is part of the Be the Business movement, which was launched in 2017 with the support of leading businesses including, Amazon, GSK and the John Lewis Partnership to propagate and amplify business success. Tony Danker, CEO of Be the Business said, “Our movement is about making the UK the most competitive economy in Europe. We do this by bringing together business leaders to share the things that have made them successful. The UK is already home to some of the best family run firms in the world, and we’re working to grow that number.
The aims of the North West Family Business Programme are to galvanise family businesses in the region to become some of Britain’s best-run firms through the creation of a range of powerful initiatives including business placements, action learning peer groups, open days, advisory boards mentoring and productivity through people programmes, which will be delivered through the North West Business Leadership Team and regional delivery partners.
Sue Howorth, founder of The Family Business Network said, “I’m really pleased to be working with Be the Business and the North West Business Leadership Team on this programme. It presents an excellent opportunity for family businesses of all sizes across the North West and their talent pipeline of leaders to get involved, learn and gain support from one another.”
Speaking about the advisory board initiative for which The Family Business Network are responsible, Sue further commented “We are looking for family businesses that have plans for growth and sustainability who would like the added benefit of some support in the form of a board of business leaders over a 12 month period. There is no financial cost to businesses who join up; the investment is the time required to take away from the business to dedicate to the programme.”
