The Dalesman Country Inn has been awarded its first AA Rosette which celebrates excellence in cooking, as well as four stars for its accommodation.
Situated in the heart of quaint Sedbergh, the family-run 16th century coaching inn has been a favourite destination of locals, tourists and walkers for decades. Now firmly etched onto the foodie map, The Dalesman hope to welcome those looking to experience the best of the Dales through their high-quality food, local ales and stylish accommodation.
Owner, Mike Garnett said, “We’re so pleased to have won our first Rosette Award. Joining the AA’s Restaurant Guide has been a long-standing ambition of ours and over the past few years we’ve taken time and care to build a strong team of staff and suppliers that has stood us in good stead”.
“We believe in using the best locally sourced food to create dishes with a modern slant, which are designed to reflect the seasons by our talented chefs.”
The AA’s Restaurant Guide provides food lovers with breakdowns of restaurants by county, including a detailed description of each destination, information on latest chef changes, opening times, sample menu prices and images of many of the featured locations.
One rosette means a restaurant is achieving standards that stand out in its local area, including food prepared with care, understanding and skill, good quality ingredients and the same expectations apply to hotel restaurants where guests should be able to eat in confidence and a sense of anticipation.
The visiting AA inspector commented, “The food output was enjoyable on all occasions and a confident One AA Rosette Award was achieved.”
The inn was also awarded an AA Four Star grading with the comments including, “This is a property that offers plenty of authentic charm as well as comfort, and is a valued asset to the local scene. Service and hospitality levels were very good throughout the stay. Congratulations to all concerned for achieving such high standards.”
An exciting expansion of the accommodation at The Dalesman is planned for early 2023, to create a further two spacious bedroom suites on the first floor featuring The Dalesman’s stylish country-chic décor.
Owner, Mike Garnett added, “We’re looking forward to opening our new accommodation next Spring, giving more guests the chance to experience our signature warm welcome from our wonderful front of house team, as well as some great food of course!”
The Dalesman currently offers five individual guest rooms plus a separate two-bedroomed cottage where guests can enjoy a delicious county breakfast, before exploring the local area. To find out more or book a table, visit thedalesman.co.uk
