Oxfordshire skincare brand helping to bring back bees & other pollinators

As World Bee Day approaches on Wednesday 20 May, Oxfordshire skincare company Neve’s Bees is encouraging people across the UK to take simple steps to support bees and other pollinators.

To mark the occasion, the family-run business is offering 15% off its entire range of 100% natural skincare with the code HAPPYBEEDAY15, along with free wildflower seeds with qualifying orders.
Bees and other pollinators are responsible for around one in every three mouthfuls of food we eat. Yet across the UK and beyond, they are under increasing pressure from habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change, disease, and changes in land use.

The UK has lost an estimated 97% of its wildflower meadows since the 1930s, removing vital food sources and habitat for bees, butterflies, and countless other insects.
Julie Macken, founder of Neve’s Bees, said:

“When people ask what they can do to help bees, my answer is always the same: plant flowers. It really is that simple. Whether you have a large garden, a window box, or just a few pots outside your front door, you can create a small patch of habitat that helps pollinators survive.”

The challenges facing nature can feel overwhelming, but when thousands of people each take one small action, the impact can be extraordinary.
The campaign comes at a time of growing public awareness about biodiversity loss and follows celebrations of David Attenborough’s 100th birthday earlier this month.

As Sir David Attenborough famously said:

“Every space in Britain must be used to help wildlife.”

Five simple ways to help bees

● Leave a patch of your garden to grow wild.
● Scatter pollinator-friendly wildfl ower seeds.
● Let dandelions, daisies, and clover bloom.
● Reduce or avoid pesticide use.
● Encourage your local council to leave roadside verges and green spaces to flower.

Julie added:

“Bees can only travel relatively short distances, so they need regular pockets of flowers to feed from. Even the smallest mini meadow can become part of a much bigger network of life.”

A business rooted in nature

Gaining certification as a B Corp this year, Neve’s Bees was founded by Julie and her daughter Neve in Oxfordshire. Inspired by their beekeeping and love of the natural world, they create award-winning skincare made with beeswax and carefully selected botanical ingredients.

The business donates a portion of profi ts to support wildlife and nature recovery projects and has planted a fi ve-acre wildfl ower meadow in West Oxfordshire to help restore habitat for pollinators.
Julie said: “We started Neve’s Bees because we wanted to make products that were kind to skin and kind to the planet.”
