North Yorkshire business supports Malton family charity

The team at a Thixendale rapeseed oil business has announced fundraising plans for its 2022 Charity of the Year.

The team at Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil are partnering with Ryedale Special Families in Malton and hope to raise in excess of £3000 for the charity that supports families of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs in Ryedale

Of the fundraising, Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil’s Jennie Palmer said: “We asked our social media followers for suggestions for charities to support in 2022 and were overwhelmed with the volume of responses. We then polled the top three suggestions, again using social media, and were delighted that Ryedale Special Families was the clear winner with almost 2,000 votes.

“Our fundraising began in earnest on Saturday when a team of 16 of us raised over £2,000 by tackling the challenging 44-mile Wolds Rangers Way by relay, and then this week, we will launch a limited-edition fundraising oil at the Great Yorkshire Show.

“The new Lemon, Garlic, Oregano and Thyme Oil has been specially developed by us for Ryedale Special Families and 35p from the sale of each bottle will be donated to the charity. The versatile and delicious oil is perfect for roasting vegetables, marinading meat and fish for your summer barbecues or drizzled as a dressing.”

The team is also planning more events to raise money and it has set up a Just Giving page https://bit.ly/YROJustGivingRSF for donations.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil’s Lemon, Garlic, Oregano and Thyme Oil is one of a range of 10 flavoured oils that are made from cold-pressed extra-virgin rapeseed oil that is pressed, blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm in Thixendale. It costs £4.00 and is available to buy through selected independent retailers and online at www.yorkshirerapeseedoil.co.uk.

Ryedale Special Families began in the early 1990’s when a group of 20 families of disabled children started to meet in their own homes in order to share challenges and experiences, as well as offer mutual support to each other. It became a registered charity in 1997 and now provides support to 350 families throughout the Ryedale area.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 by Adam and Jennie Palmer on their farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. They produce a range of oils, dressings and mayonnaise based on their award-winning rapeseed oil.
