One week today, Co-Directors of The Family Business Network, Sue Howorth and Dave Clarkson will be participating in a live online family business event, ‘Helping business-owning families through the Great Wealth Transfer’.
This FREE learning event is being hosted by Aston University and The Centre For Research In Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME) and takes place next Wednesday 26 May from 9am to 12:30pm. It will feature a number of family businesses as well as a panel of top academics from the fields of business, taxation and finance.
The event is designed to help business-owning families tackle the challenges of ownership and wealth transfer across the generations, whether this be intergenerational tensions that can arise during the ownership transfer process or the UK tax and inheritance laws that can shape the process.
Attendees will also gain an understanding of ‘The Great Wealth Transfer’ and the implications it has for business-owning families.
During a live discussion, Sue Howorth and Dave Clarkson will uncover real life examples of ownership transfer issues as they speak to the family owners of two prominent UK family businesses; William Robinson – Joint Managing Director of sixth generation business, Frederic Robinson Limited and John Donner – third generation owner of The Wakefield Shirt Group.
Both family business owners will provide a fascinating insight into the unique histories behind their companies, as well as a candid explanation of their personal experiences and knowledge of family business ownership structuring and wealth transfer through the generations.
In addition, Director of CREME, Professor Monder Ram OBE will be introducing a further family business owner, Damini Sharma – Managing Director of The OM Group as part of a session looking at ownership & wealth transfer within ethnic minority business-owning families.
