CUMBRIA Chamber of Commerce has produced an online toolkit to help businesses mitigate the impacts of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The resource is being regularly updated, and provides a one-stop-shop for information for all businesses relating to the virus.

On the webpage, Rob Johnston, Chief Executive of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, says: “We’re seeing an impact across the economy as consumers change their behaviour. Government advice now is to avoid non-essential travel and public spaces such as pubs, restaurants and cinemas.

“We’re advising businesses  to do a risk assessment. Look at your supply chain, identify vulnerabilities if supplies are interrupted and make contingency plans.

“You also need to consider cash flow if there’s a risk that your business model will be disrupted. It’s better to discuss these issues with your bank now and make provision if you’re going to need n extended overdraft, for example.

“The Chancellor unveiled an extensive package of support in the Budget, which will assist many businesses facing cash-flow difficulties.”

“Government advice is that staff should work from home, where possible, and businesses should put processes in place to ensure they can function if key individuals are off sick or self-isolating.”
