Run in collaboration with the IOD and The Family Business Community and sponsored by LCF Law. Hear from established North Yorkshire family businesses, their journeys, highlights, challenges, and the theme of the evening being ‘the art of decision making’. Rudding Park: the Mackaness family have run a luxury hotel, Rudding Park for just over 50 years with 90 bedrooms and suites, destination spa, two restaurants, a kitchen garden, private cinema, two golf courses, and conference and events space set in 300 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland. Director and second generation, Matthew Mackaness will share his family’s journey and some of the decisions that had to be made to sustain the growth and ambition of the business.
Whitakers Chocolates: the Whitaker family have shared a passion for chocolate for over 135 years. From humble beginnings, they have developed their business from a small greengrocer’s shop to a fully operational chocolate factory making over 10 million chocolates per week! In recent years Managing Director William Whitaker had a key decision to make. William will play back his scenario to a team of business owners on the night and gain their perspectives before revealing the true decision he made.
