A Carlisle-based family business has stepped up to help people fight the impact of Covid-19.

K&S McKenzie, located at Kingstown Industrial Estate, has partnered with WAI-Global to supply innovative vehicle sanitisation kits.

Stuart McKenzie, Director, said: “We are entering a ‘new normal’ and social distancing and sanitising will play a key role as we navigate coming out of lockdown.

“As such, we have been looking for ways to expand our offering to help businesses such as taxi drivers, garage owners, plant fitters, and bus drivers to ensure their cabins remain safe from viruses.

“We believe we have found a robust and easy to use solution that will prove valuable over the coming months.”

The vehicle sanitisation kits are part of a global brand used by government facilities – technicians spray the ready-to-use disinfectant inside the vehicle and close the doors.

It says that it will eradicate bacteria and viruses on surfaces up to 99.99 per cent and also forms a barrier for up to seven days.

K&S McKenzie was one of the first firms to open on the Kingstown Industrial Estate and was set up by Stuart’s parents, Keith and Sara, in 1968, supplying parts to the commercial vehicle market.

Stuart and his brother Alistair now head up the company, which has diversified into different markets.

Last month, it opened a new tool centre on the nearby Blackdyke Road, for their existing commercial clients and for the general public to visit.

Stuart said the centre has doubled the size of the business, which also sells LED lights, is a BOC Gas agent and sells fuel additives to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.
