A legal expert who works to settle disputes in cases which involve wills, inheritance and negligence has joined the ranks of top Cumbrian law firm Cartmell Shepherd.
David Tew has taken up a position at the company as a dispute resolution solicitor.
The 32-year-old sports enthusiast is originally from Cockermouth and studied law at the University of Wales in Aberystwyth.
He recently won a high court battle on behalf of a widow who faced a bleak future after the family of her deceased husband tried to evict her from the home they had shared.
Of his appointment, David said: “I am delighted to have joined Cartmell Shepherd. It is great to work for a local firm with national recognition that is committed to both the quality of client services and it’s staff.”
When he is not representing his clients, David – who holds memberships of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association and the Property Litigation Association – enjoys playing hockey and is a member of the Keswick Hockey Club. He is also a huge Scotland rugby fan and has a season ticket at Murrayfield.
David joins a large team of specialist contentious probate solicitors at the firm, including Managing Director Peter Stafford who is a member of ACTAPS (the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists).
Peter said: “David is a great addition to our expanding litigation team, now one of the largest in Cumbria, and bolsters the firm’s already top class team of contentious probate specialists. The team also includes health and social care specialists.
“This is a further welcome addition to the firm, following the opening of our west Cumbria office earlier this month, and shows our commitment to offering the people and businesses of Cumbria and Northumberland the best legal advice on their doorsteps.
“The firm already employs 15 specialist non-contentious lawyers who prepare wills, powers of attorneys and carry out probate and trust work for thousands of clients every year.”
Cartmell Shepherd is one of the north’s leading law firms and has six offices across Cumbria and Northumberland.
The company boasts more than 200 years of experience in providing legal services to its clients across the personal, agricultural and business law sectors.
