Award-winning family business Spice Kitchen has teamed up with celebrated food writer, baker and television favourite Chetna Makan to create a limited-edition Indian spice kit inspired by her latest cookbook, Chetna’s 5 Ingredient Indian.
Launching on 21 July, the collaboration brings together four of the signature spice blends featured throughout Chetna’s new book, making it even easier for home cooks to recreate her vibrant, flavour-packed recipes in their own kitchens.
Built around the same simple philosophy that inspired Chetna’s 5 Ingredient Indian, each spice blend contains just five carefully chosen ingredients, proving that incredible flavour doesn’t have to mean complicated cooking. Together, the blends form the foundation of dozens of recipes throughout the book, helping cooks bring authentic Indian flavours to everyday meals with confidence.
The collection includes Chetna’s Chaat Masala, Sabji Masala, Garam Masala and Tandoori Masala, all freshly blended in small batches by Spice Kitchen before being presented in a beautifully designed keepsake tin alongside the company’s signature spice spoon.
The collaboration grew from a shared belief that food has the power to bring people together and that some of the best meals are those shared around a busy kitchen table with family and friends.
“Chetna has inspired millions of people to discover just how joyful and approachable Indian cooking can be,” said Sanjay Aggarwal, cofounder of Spice Kitchen. “From the moment we started talking, it felt like a natural partnership. We both believe that good food should be accessible, full of flavour and something that brings people together.”
Chetna added: “The idea behind 5 Ingredient Indian was to show that you don’t need a long shopping list or a cupboard full of spices to cook delicious Indian food. Working with Spice Kitchen to create these blends means people can spend less time measuring spices and more time enjoying the cooking itself.”
Born in central India, Chetna Makan first captured the hearts of the nation as a semi-finalist on The Great British Bake Off. Since then, she has become one of the UK’s best-loved food writers, building a loyal following through her cookbooks, YouTube channel Food with Chetna and approachable style of Indian home cooking. Her latest book, Chetna’s 5 Ingredient Indian, continues her mission to make authentic Indian food simpler, quicker and more accessible for everyone.
The limited-edition spice kit will be available from 21 July.
