FamBiz Afterlife: Trusts, Succession & Letting Go Well
Succession is rarely a single event. It’s a long, often emotional process that raises questions about trust, control, legacy, and what comes next.
Our next FamBiz Afterlife event takes place on Tuesday 24th February at The Crooklands Hotel and is designed for family business owners thinking about succession and life beyond leadership.
This session will focus on the role of trusts in succession planning — why families use them, the benefits they can offer, and the challenges they can create if they are not aligned with family values, relationships, and long-term intentions.
We’ll explore:
  • How trusts are used in family business succession
  • The benefits and potential drawbacks of trust structures
  • The impact on control, communication, and family dynamics
  • What founders often underestimate when planning for life after leadership
We’ll also hear from a Next Generation panel, sharing honest insights on transition over time, stepping into responsibility, evolving roles, and what trust and legacy feel like from their perspective.
Jacob Saunders, Operations and Business Development Manager, Abbey
Olivia Doherty, Warehouse & Quality Manager, The Plastic Bottles co.
This event is not about rushing succession, but about letting go well — with clarity and intention.
The session will be confidential and peer-led, followed by a buffet lunch and time to connect with others on a similar journey.
We’d love you to join us. Please complete the booking details below to secure your place.
