Family businesses across the North West prepare for the inaugural awards night

Tickets for the North West Family Business Awards have now been released, in preparation for the glitzy event on Friday 6 March 2020, set to take off in first class style, in the Concorde Hangar at The Runway Visitor Park – home for the iconic British Airways Concorde at Manchester Airport.

The host for the evening is food and drink broadcaster Nigel Barden, who grew up on his family farm in Lancashire. Nigel said: “These awards are a great way of family businesses right across the region showcasing their fantastic talents.

“Family businesses are a fantastic community, where there is a willingness to share success, and learn from each other’s achievements.”

Co -Director of The Family Business Network, Sue Howorth said: “Nigel is a great supporter of the Family Business sector and the perfect host for the evening, and we are delighted he will be hosting the first North West Awards, celebrating family businesses from Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cumbria and Lancashire.”

The evening celebrations will include a three-course meal served beneath the wings of the iconic G-BOAC British Airways Concorde, award presentations and entertainment.

Nominations and entries have been flooding in for the first awards in the region which celebrate family owned businesses of all sizes. And there’s still time to get involved.

Businesses have until midnight on 16 January 2020 to enter the awards before the judging process begins ahead of the ceremony on March 6th 2020.

Dave Clarkson, Co-Director of The Family Business Network said: “The awards, along with the wider Family Business Network, unites the family business community across the North West, gives them a voice, a sense of belonging, and a safe and trusted environment where they can be confident in sharing with, and learning from, each other.”

The awards are open to family businesses from Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester, with judges from each county on the main judging panel.

There are 12 categories available for businesses to enter including: food and drink establishments, manufacturing and engineering, retailers and wholesalers, property and construction, leisure and tourism, food and drink producers, transport and logistics, science and technology, business and community services, non-family leader, employee of the year and the people’s choice awards

Dave added: “We would like to thank our sponsors to date for their support. Sponsorship for a number of categories has already been sold out, however, there are more sponsorship opportunities available for the North West Family Business Awards and information is available in our Sponsorship Pack.”
