New Partnership launches The Family Business Network Ltd into Yorkshire

Building on fantastic relationships the team has forged with businesses across the region, Langleys was excited to launch in partnership with The Family Business Network, the brand-new Yorkshire Family Business Network at its flagship event on Wednesday 11 July.

The kick off, which was hosted in the stunning Old Library Palace in the grounds of York Minster, welcomed family businesses from across Yorkshire, keen to get involved in the bespoke peer to peer learning network developed specifically for family businesses.

Guest speakers, including John Stephenson, MP, Gareth Marshall, Directors of Bath House Ltd, Ged Lees, MD to Family Business, Professor Carole Howorth and Camilla Carlbom Flinn, Chairman of Carlbom Shipping Ltd, each delivered a brief talk, sharing their experiences of working in and with family businesses, documenting the highs and lows and what they have learned along the way.

The initiative, which has already launched successfully in Cumbria, is a joint partnership between award winning entrepreneur and trusted family business ambassador Sue Howorth and Langleys Business Development Director Dave Clarkson.

Understanding the unique challenges faced by family businesses, Sue and Dave wanted to create a trusted environment where businesses can find value and insight, gain support and inspiration from others and engage in topical discussions and self analysis.

Speaking about the network, Dave Clarkson commented: “Our region is full of incredible family run enterprises and we’re excited to be starting something new just for them. The Yorkshire Family Business Network isn’t a general business group; it really delivers specific support and expertise to meet the unique needs of our great family businesses. ”
Thinking ahead to the future of the Yorkshire Family Business Network, Sue Howorth mused, “Family businesses play a vital role in the UK economy but there can sometimes be a lack of understanding by the business community about the distinct issues facing family businesses. I wanted to change that and give family businesses their own community and I am delighted to be able to bring this successful proven structure of support to Yorkshire in partnership with Langleys.”
