Luxury bed maker Harrison Spinks has been awarded two prestigious family business of the year awards

The fifth generation family firm has triumphed winning Yorkshire Family Business of the Year and Manufacturing Family Business of the Year at the sixth annual Family Business of the Year (‘FBOTY’) Awards in London.

The awards recognise and celebrate family run businesses from all over the UK and the contributions they make to the communities in which they operate, and towards UK business as a whole.

The winners were decided by a panel of judges and revealed at an awards ceremony in London’s Mayfair Hotel/

“We are delighted to have been awarded these titles for 2018” said Simon Spinks at Harrison Spinks. “Family is a huge part of who we are as a business and we are so pleased that this has been recognised and celebrated.”

“As a 5th generation family business, we are incredibly proud of our history which has driven the business to grow into the industry leading innovative bed manufacturer that we are today.”

The Yorkshire Award was presented by Richard Vestey, the next generation of his family to be involved at the food group who are also owners of Western Pension Solutions, the sponsors of this award.

Paul Andrews, Founder and Managing Director of Family Business United who run the awards added, “Harrison Spinks is a great example of a great British manufacturer that is now in the hands of the fifth generation.  This is a proud Yorkshire family in many respects – proud of who they are, what they make and where they come from.  Family values are clearly shared across the business and innovation is at the heart of the firm.”

“Constantly innovating, Harrison Spinks are worthy winners of these awards, constantly investing and striving to push boundaries and as a family firm are great ambassadors for the family business sector too.”

In April this year, Harrison Spinks received two prestigious Queen’s Awards for Enterprise – one for Innovation and one for International Trade – bringing the total number won by the company to four.
